New Southern—
Hedonistic and bookish, I am a writer-producer from the “new” American South.
I am a writer-producer and martial artist based in Los Angeles.
Being very honest and specific about “place” in storytelling, my work explores future and contemporary American identity. Before entering tv/film, I worked in investigative journalism at NPR and The NYTimes where I learned the principles of research and grounded storytelling. I am interested in stretching the narrative potential of black comedy toward the socio-political themes of climate change, migration, industry, and bureaucracy.
As of May 2023, I will earn my MFA in Film & TV Production at USC where I am studying screenwriting and producing. Over the past year, I worked directly under Gail Katz (AIR FORCE ONE, MIGHTY JOE YOUNG) and Tony Jonas (President of WBTV, 95-99) as Showrunner/Executive Producer in USC’s year-long TV production course, “Straight to Series.” The Fall semester was dedicated to development— giving script notes inside a Writers’ Room. During the spring, our team septupled in size. I led a production of over 80 students in the largest and most expensive student production in the school’s history.
As a graduate student at USC, I worked as an executive assistant to Daniel Noah, Co-Founder and Head of Development at SpectreVision. I also worked as an assistant to Bonnie Bruckheimer, Scott Kroopf, and Jason Squire (editor of The Movie Business Book).
Outside of television writing and set production, I study the Japanese martial art of Aikido. I conquer my disability of narcolepsy/cataplexy with effective time management, stealthy grip locks, and regular naptimes.
I studied Philosophy and Political Science at Tufts University.
Nothing goes under the radar.
